New PowerCan Hand Over at the Polish Ship Yards

New PowerCan SOLIDEA Group PowerCan team have handed over the New PowerCan at the SOLIDEA RUMIA Gas Motorworks in the Gdansk Ship Yards in Poland.

Turning The Gasification Industry On Its Head

Down draft technology has dominated the gasification industry since after the second world war and most project developers have carried on with the development of Down draft since. Not surprising, since Down draft gasification is most notable for lower tars and as it has been tars that have dogged the gasification industry for decades.

The evolution of the non profitable fermentation industry is a direct result of the gasification industry historical inability to eliminate enough tar to run a gas engine without fouling the turbo. Few companies have achieved such a feat

The claims of special secret cleaning technologies used by the Germans and Japanese to make synthetic fuels is pure fantasy. The fact is Fischer Tropsche [and Bergius] are far more tolerant of dirty gas than the modern Gas Turbo Engine and it is the Gas Turbo Engine which has been the downfall of most of our competitors.

Purism and The Gas Turbo Engine

Early gasification project worked wonders but as dual fuel projects. Since the purists entered the renewable energy industry funding has insisted on finance being awarded to purely biomass conversion ruling out any tolerance of biomass and fossil fuel projects.

The attitude of the purists created no favors for the industry or the environment [or the consumer] with an end to co firing wood chip gasification. Opportunities to combat environmental issues and green house gas mitigation with biomass and Diesel fuel together have been missed and at the cost to the consumer. After 1990 the attitude of the purists put the spanner in the works for many EU lead projects and practically all of our EU competitors.

“UK famous BedZED and many other gasification projects in Europe ended in tears. Since only a handful of developers have managed to produce a deep cleaning system which can remove sufficient tar from the synthesis gas to keep a modern gas turo CHP unit on full power and productive for any length of time”.

PowerCan 200 is topping the bill in the European Union

Alongside the New PowerCan is the PowerCan 200 from SOLIDEA ANKUR Europe which is already on sale in Europe and North America. PowerCan 200 reactor technology is already successful operating in more than 2000 working gasification plants worldwide and with working projects in many countries of the world.

PowerCan 200 has full CE certification and the certification for New PowerCan and GATO technology developed in Poland is the next step forward.

The working demonstrations at SOLIDEA RUMIA Gas Motorworks attracted a full schedule of commercial visitors over the next three months. PowerCan 200 and New PowerCan is stirring the dispersed energy industry with several top European Corporate Companies from the EU and North America are attending with a view of placing orders.

The Old, The New and, The Brand New

The original BedZED gasification unit recovered from Blackwater Northern Ireland is being exhibited at the SOLIDEA RUMIA Gas Motorworks this summer. PowerCan team are keen to have this technology revamped and in working progress as soon as possible. The BedZED technology best illustrates how British Engineers had developed a gasification process with a small reduction zone creating a compact gasification unit originally intended for dual fuel operation.

Teamed up with PowerCan Family ConcordeFT a twin arrangement of Blackwater gasification reactors can work well delivering a Biomass only solution. Using one of the reactors to produce wood gas and the second to produce synthetic Diesel fuel. This original way of working meets the expectations of the purists, it provides a neat solution for almost 100% operation.

Whilst the PowerCan team are touting ConcordeFT as a fast track solution for what ails its competitors it is still fully dedicated to develop its cold plasma technology for Up draft and Down draft to develop new and refit existing gasification systems.

Whilst the BedZED type of gasifier could work well in dual fuel mode [with a converted Diesel engine] it so far demonstrated wholly unsuitable for the modern Gas Turbo Engine. PowerCan 200 ANKUR Scientific reactors however and the deep cleaning process is tried and tested in most regions of the world and it is without question the market standard.

With two towering HTFE Units [High Temperature Filtering Equipment] or bag houses as they are commonly referred to adjacent the old wet scrubbers of Blackwater and BedZED PowerCan team show benchmarks of how the industry has developed gas cleaning over the last 30 years and to endorse how PowerCan technology with Primary Gas Engines work to provide Combined Heat and Power 24/7.

The Brand New, New PowerCan takes the gasification business to the next level with the ability to simply disconnect the HTFE and even the trusty old cyclone cutting equipment and Capital costs reducing operational downtime and maintenance and operational risk. Using a SOLIDEA ANKUR developed reactor to create an Updraft gasifier and Polish PowerCan Industries GATO unit.

Gasification vs Fermentation

Fact of chemistry is AD and the fermentation industry will never compete economically with gasification either in Combined Heat and Power or in the  Synthetic Fuels arena and without historic tar trouble and subsidies paid for by unhappy consumers AD would not even be considered a viable technology.

Having a dearth of proven technology which deal with tars, gasification is about to take the lead in Europe via PowerCan as a main stream technology and as the leading biomass and biomass waste to energy technology.

Since PowerCan has an undisputed rapid payback even in European Countries with no tariff bonuses or incentive for renewable energy a roll out over the next few years in inevitable.
