Energy & Data On The Move

IBM Data CentreBoth Energy Plants and Data Centres are on the move, trends and economic realities rapidly shape new emerging energy and data processing industries. The fact is energy production and data centre operations need to relocate or “disperse” their businesses and infrastructure to meet current demands and the demands of the foreseeable future.

“Energy producers and Data Centre operators face fresh new challenges, but new synergies are emerging – these are real game changers”.

PowerCan® 200 is a modular small scale gasification plant; wood-chip, biomass or cellulose feedstock is automatically fed into a vessel which produces synthesis gas without emission. The synthesis gas [Syngas] is then burned in a CHP unit to produce 200kW of energy 24 hours a day. Unlike other renewable energy sources the PowerCan® 200 works in all weathers day and night and almost anywhere. Continue reading

Innovating The PowerCan® 200

Warsaw March 18, 2013

Gassifier No.1

Small Gasification is a process which converts organic carbonaceous materials or biomass into carbon monoxidehydrogen and carbon dioxide. Generally gasification is reacted in a  controlled vacuum starved of oxygen and so that no combustion occurs.  At temperatures higher than 700°C, and without combustion in a controlled amount of oxygen syngas (from synthesis gas or synthetic gas) is created from the producer gas. The process is without a smoke stack and there are no emissions as the syngas conversion is produced in a vacuum. Syngas is an ideal fuel for CHP [Combined Heat and Power Units] derived from the gasification of renewable energy and a great way of reducing CO₂

The PowerCan® 200 2013-2016 Research and Development Program takes the PowerCan® 200 to the commercial mass production level,. PowerCan® 200 team will develop a global product an off the shelf energy solution with almost endless opportunities to make waste extinct locally, end landfill, reduce CO₂ and produce clean energy and one day even cleaner transport fuels. Autumn’s Energy Windfalls

Warsaw, Poland 31 October 2012

Every year thousands of tons of leaves need to be swept up and disposed of by district and local park authorities. It’s a costly but necessary business because leaves block drains, paths and roads. Unswept leaves spoil parks, and avenues. But the gasification of leaves reduces public costs and can create much employment. As a source of renewable energy feedstock Autumns Windfalls for the community is truly value added commodity Continue reading

Green Coffee Grinds Feedstock

Gothenburg September 29, 2012

There is not an industry more focussed on being green than the Coffeehouse business right now. On the high street its all about green credibility. There is much debate about in store waste and renewable coffee cups, not to mention what to do with the spent beans or “grinds” as they are called in the trade. When the SOLIDEA Group EVE® team were asked to look at how renewable energy might best impact the Coffee business we came up with a few surprises.

The SOLIDEA EVE® [Energy Value Engineering] team review business premises and industry segments to introduce renewable energy solutions to save energy, save money and add value. SOLIDEA’s clients want to be the World’s first Zero Net Energy Coffee House Operators. Continue reading
