New PowerCan Hand Over at the Polish Ship Yards

New PowerCan SOLIDEA Group PowerCan team have handed over the New PowerCan at the SOLIDEA RUMIA Gas Motorworks in the Gdansk Ship Yards in Poland.

The New PowerCan [right] seen here with the PowerCan 200 [left] is an Updraft Gasifier. “Whilst it comes as some surprise to the Industry Up draft Gasification provides more benefit to the development of the industry than Down draft Gasification” says SOLIDEA Groups Steve Walker. “Since we cured the tar problem with our GATO [GlidArc Tar Oxidizer] we needed to go a stage further and reduce the particulates. Since Updraft is more tolerant of lesser feedstock it was time to change

PowerCan 200 takes 4th place in National GEKON Competition

More than 400 candidates from some of Poland’s largest power and engineering companies competed to fund development of their new technologies under GEKON financial sponsorship, with full Polish government support.  Good news for PowerCan clients

The production of the new PowerCan starts immediately

PowerCan200 was placed 4th in the GEKON Program and one of the 24 companies of 400 professional applicants who will receive sponsorship (by the National Center for Research and Development, NCBiR, and the National Fund for Environmental Protection, NFOS).

The PowerCan200 converts wood chip and forest waste into synthesis gas. The PowerCan powers a stationary MAN Gas Engine and Combined Heat and Power unit. Since PowerCan200 can produce energy locally on or off grid and given recent events in Ukraine it can yet demonstrate to be well timed and hugely successful in this region. Continue reading

The current consumer demand often means sourcing “White Pellets” over huge distances incurring much transport costs and embedding more CO2 than could ever help the environment and what becomes of all of the bark and other waste discarded in the process?

What Are White Pellets And Why Are They So Expensive?

White Pellets are made of the materials of the cream of the lumber industry, they are free from leaves, bark or and even knots. The domestic heating markets in Italy, Austria and Germany consume more than 90% of all White Pellets produced. White Pellets are 6mm in diameter and are sized between 15mm and 30mm, they are supplied in perforated plastic bags of 10-15 kg each. White Pellets are manufactured from Pine Trees but some leaf trees are also used to make these pellets. Continue reading
